Experts in an increasingly
important field

Digital forensics is the ever-growing, and ever more important branch of forensic science which focuses on identifying, acquiring, processing, analyzing, and reporting on data stored electronically.

It can be used to retrieve information wherever data is stored – on laptops and computers, tablets, and cell phones, hard drives and even GPS devices (wearables or SatNavs), which can be used to confirm a suspect’s location at a particular time.

The key to
unlocking
investigations

Digital forensics can be used to attribute evidence to specific suspects, to determine a person’s intentions, to confirm alibis or disprove them, as well as identifying sources, (in copyright cases), or authenticating documents.

For corporate investigations, email trails and social media threads (WhatsApp) can be particularly useful to investigators, providing key evidence in cases of employee misconduct, for example, where company information has been deliberately leaked.

Law enforcement across the world has also been able to hack into ‘dark web’ social media apps to monitor the communication of organized crime gangs and make successful arrests and prosecutions based on the evidence gathered from this source.
